Learn to Felt using the Nuno Technique - Class is FULL

Skill Level: No felting experience necessary
Age group: 12 and up
Class size: 4

Nuno-felting is a technique that combines fine wool with an open weave fabric, such as silk or cotton chiffon to create a thin, draping piece of felt that is flexible yet durable, especially suitable to wearables. In this class we will explore the technique using inexpensive tools (like bubble wrap!) and create a flat piece of fabric you can cut and sew and also a neckwarmer piece that can be worn with very little finishing.

Instructor: Shannon is a handspinner and feltmaker recently re-transplanted from the east coast where she taught workshops in southern VT and regularly peddled her wares at the local farmer's market. Her passion for wool borders on obsession, but she doesn't think there's anything wrong with that.

Materials: Bring 3 ounces of merino wool (solid or handpainted) which can be purchased at the shop. Please bring a  3-foot piece of bubble wrap, a rolling pin or dowel, and a towel. Instructor will provide silk scraps to work with, but if you have any natural fiber chiffon or gauze-type fabrics you would like to try, please bring them!

Class Price: $40.00
